The Double Ninth Festival（重阳节英文）


　　The "Chong Yang Festival" is celebrated on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, and it is as such known as the Double Ninth Festival.  

　　Origins: The festival began as early as the Warring States Period (475 - 221 BC). According to the yin/yang dichotomy that forms a basis to the Chinese world view, yin represents the elements of darkness and yang represents life and brightness. The number nine is regarded as yang. The ninth day of the ninth month is a double yang day, hence the name "Chong Yang Festival". (Chong means "repeat" in Chinese.) The ninth month also heralds the approach of winter. It is a time when the living need warm clothing, and filial Chinese sons and daughters extended this to make the festival a time for providing winter clothes for their ancestors. The Double Ninth Festival, therefore, also became an occasion to visit the graves of dead family members. Clothes made of paper would then be burnt as offerings.  

　　Climbing mountains: On the Double Ninth Festival, people customarily climb mountains, appreciate chrysanthemum flowers, drink chrysanthemum wine, and eat double-ninth cakes. The Double Ninth Festival is also the "Old Men Festival". Old people are especially meant to improve their health by taking part in the activities on the day of the festival.  

　　Family get-togethers: The Double Ninth Festival is also a time for family get-togethers. It is an occasion to remember one's ancestors, the sacrifices they made and the hardships they underwent. Often, family outings are organised during which people search to renew their appreciation of nature and to reaffirm their love and concern for family members and close friends.  


农历九月九日，为传统的重阳节。因为古老的《易经》中把“六”定为阴数，把“九”定为阳数，九月九日，日月并阳，两九相重，故而叫重阳，也叫重九，古人认为是个值得庆贺的吉利日子，并且从很早就开始过此节日。

在古代，民间在重阳有登高的风俗，故重阳节又叫“登高节”。相传此风俗始于东汉。唐代文人所写的登高诗很多，大多是写重阳节的习俗；杜甫的七律《登高》，就是写重阳登高的名篇。登高所到之处，没有划一的规定，一般是登高山、登高塔。

在这一天，人们还有吃“重阳糕”的习俗。在汉语里，“糕”与“高”同音，”，人们会用“吃糕”代替“登高”，祝愿百事俱高。重阳糕又称花糕、菊糕、五色糕，制无定法，较为随意。最高的有九层，像一个塔。

重阳节正是一年的金秋时节，菊花盛开，民间还把农历九月称为“菊月”，在菊花傲霜怒放的重阳节里，观赏菊花成了节日的一项重要内容，当然，人们也会喝一些菊花酒。女人会把茱萸插在头上或挂在门口，可以避难消灾。

今天的重阳节，被赋予了新的含义，在1989年，我国把每年的九月九日定为老人节，传统与现代巧妙地结合，成为尊老、敬老、爱老、助老的老年人的节日。全国各机关、团体、街道，往往都在此时组织从工作岗位上退下来的老人们秋游赏景，或临水玩乐，或登山健体，让身心都沐浴在大自然的怀抱里；不少家庭的晚辈也会搀扶着年老的长辈到郊外活动或为老人准备一些可口的饮食。

旁白（Aside）: Good morning everyone, today we will tell you a story about the origin of Chong Yang Festival.
旁白（Aside）: Long long ago, there was studious boy named Huan Jing. His families and him abided by the law and behaved themselves, and lived happily. However, a Plague Devil came to the Ru River in July, where His families and him lived.

瘟魔（Plague Devil）: I am Plague Devil, and bring plague to the world is my great joy. Hahah…

旁白（Aside）: Unfortunately, Huan Jing’s father and mother were killed by the Plague Devil.

桓景（Huan Jing）: Wu Wu Wu, my parents were dead. I will revenge my parents.

Act 2
旁白（Aside）: Huan Jing had heard that there was a immortal on the Zhong Nan Mountain named Fei Zhang Fang who was good at sorcery which could wipe all kinds of devil. So Huan Jing wanted to go to the mountain and learn sorcery which could help him kill the Plague Devil. However, no matter how hard he try to look for Fei Zhang Fang, he couldn’n find him.
桓景（Huan Jing）：Alas! I spent half year, going over hills and dales, but could not find the immortal Fei Zhangfang. Is my revenge doomed to difficulty by the heaven. Well! There is a small white pigeon falling on the ground. Er……… Let me have a look. (刚开始有点沮丧，有点悲壮，接着很惊讶，迟疑一下才决定去看看)
旁白（Aside）： Originally, a small white pigeon was smashed by the stone,falling on the ground suffocatingly, emitting weak groan.
小白鸽：I was injured. Please help me. （声音微弱，疲惫不堪）
旁白（Aside）：Huan Heng has the sympathy awfully. He holds the small white pigeon carefully and looks after it. Before long, the small white pigeon already can fly. It want to payback Huanheng`s benefaction.
小白鸽：Thank you for you care. Please tell me what can I do for you. （感恩的语气，诚心想报答）
桓景（Huan Jing）：I am bothering how to find the immortal Fei Zhangfang. Do you know where is he. (好像出现了一线希望，喜从天降)

小白鸽（Little white pigeon）: I am just coming from Fei Zhangfang’s dwelling place. I can take you to there,follow me.
桓景（Huan Jing）:Great,thanks a lot
旁白（Aside）: So they came to the feizhangfang’s house, but the door is closed. Huan Jing knelt for 3 days in front of feizhangfang’s house and he is moved.
费长房（Fei Zhangfang）:You are very sincere and have a ardent mind to do away with evil for the people. Come into my yard after me, pls.
旁白（Aside）: After they came into the house, Feizhangfang give Huan Jing a pair of sword and say……
费长房（Fei Zhangfang）: Now you are my student and I give two precious swords-they are dragon sword and tiger sword. You have to make full use of them to kill the evil. From tomorrow on, I will teach you the sword techniques to defeat the evil. Work hard and you will succeed.
桓景（Huan Jing）:Yes,sir.
旁白（Aside）: How time flys. Ten years were past. Huan jing had a good command of the sword techniques. One day Feizhangfang said to Huan jing…….
费长房（Fei Zhangfang）: The evil will come out to do harm to people again on September 9.You must come back to your hometown and do away with the evil for the people. I will give you some zhuyu leaves and mum wine to defend the calamity. Good luck.
旁白（Aside）: With the talk of the householder,Mr.Fei, a colorful fortunate cloud was coming over the head, sending Huan Jing back to his hometown, Runan.

Act 3
旁白（Aside）:When Hengjing arrived at the hometown,he told his folks
桓景（Huan Jing）: My folks, the disease devil is coming, and will reach here tomorrow, let's avoid the disaster by means of wearing a piece of Zhuyu (cornus) leaf, drinking a nip of daisy wine, climbing up the mountain."
旁白（Aside）:Thus,the people  prepared according to what they received the messsage,only leaving Huan Jing in the house without any preparation.Shortly, the devil came sure enough.and looked around to searching the people left.


瘟魔（Plague Devil）: Hum, I have been looking for you for a long time, how dare you hide in the mountain! But, hey-hey… you can’t run away from my palms at last! Haw-haw-haw…
旁白（Aside）：However，the Plague Devil smells a fit of scent while he runs to the edge of the mountain…
瘟魔（Plague Devil）: What is the scent? Ah, those are the leaf of cornus and the mum wine. Dad-burned, I’m afraid them mostly! Ah，there is also a chap…Maybe today, he is my only food, alas…
旁白（Aside）：Then, the Plague Devil jumped on Huan Jing，wanted to hurt him. But he didn’t know Huan Jing is more sharp than him. As expected, Huan Jing jump out and shout loudly…
桓景（Huan Jing）: Damned Old Nick! How dare you kill people, I will kill you for all of world!
桓景、瘟魔：Ah…
旁白（Aside）：At last, the damned Plague Devil is killed by Huan Jing. However，the convention of ascending, adorning cornus’s leaf and drinking mum wine come down from then on.

重阳节的传说剧本



人物：桓景、瘟魔、费长房、青龙剑、白虎剑、小白鸽、白云、村民、旁白。
时间：古代
场景：第一幕：汝河边，有一些小房屋
第二幕：山道上，有很多树，山道一端是一栋大屋
        第叁幕：大草原，旁边有一座山。



旁白：「各位老师，同学，大家好！我们是第四组。我们今天要表演的故事是：重阳节的传说。重阳节的传说。」

第一幕
旁白：「很久以前，有一位勤奋努力的好青年名叫桓景，他和全家安分守己，幸福快乐的过日子。但是，好景不常，某年的七月，汝河出现了一个瘟魔，散布瘟疫，危害人间。」（从此到第二幕前全组哭叫、很伤心害怕的感觉。）
瘟魔：「我是瘟魔，用「瘟」害别人，是我最大的乐趣！哈哈哈！」（得意洋洋但邪恶的笑声。）
旁白：「而桓景的父母，也被瘟魔害死了。」
桓景：「呜呜呜！我的爹娘去世了！我要报仇！呜…」（又激愤，又伤心的声音。）




第二幕
旁白：「桓景因为打听到终南山上有一位费长房神仙，精通仙法，能消灭各方妖魔。因此，桓景上山求艺，希望能报得大仇。没想到，不论桓景如何找寻，都到不了费长房的仙居。」
桓景：「唉！我花了半年的时间，翻山越岭，却一直找不到仙长费长房。难道上天注定我大仇难报？咦！那儿有一隻小白鸽倒在地上，嗯…我去看看吧！」（刚开始沮丧，有点悲壮，接着很惊讶，迟疑了一下才决定去看看。）
旁白：「原来，有一隻小白鸽被石头砸到，奄奄一息的倒在地上，发出微弱的呻吟。」
小白鸽：「我受伤了，请你救救我吧！」（声音微弱，疲惫不堪。）
旁白：「桓景很有同情心，将小白鸽小心的捧起来，加以照顾。不久，小白鸽已经可以飞了，它很想报答桓景的恩惠。」
小白鸽：「多谢你的照顾，请问我可以为你做些什么？」（感恩的语气，诚心想报答。）
桓景：「我正在烦恼怎样才能找到费长房仙人，你知道他在哪里吗？」（好像出现了一线希望，喜从天降。）
小白鸽：「我正是从费长房的居所飞来的，我这就带你去。跟我来！」（快乐的，有一种「没问题」的感觉。）
桓景：「太好了！谢谢你！」（欣喜若狂，十分兴奋。）
旁白：「于是他们到了费长房的仙居，桓景跪了叁天费长房才接见他。」
费长房：「你很有诚意，而且为民除害心切，快跟我进院吧！」（嘉许的口气。）
旁白：「他们进屋后，费长房给了桓景一对剑，并说…….」
费长房：「你现在已经是我的弟子了，我赐给你一柄青龙剑和一柄白虎剑。这是一对举世无双的宝剑，你要好好利用它们。从明天起，我会传你降妖剑法，如此一来，你就可以制服瘟魔了，好好努力！」（严肃的气氛。）
桓景：「是！」（必恭必敬的回答。）（顿一顿。）
旁白：「匆匆过了十余年，桓景的降妖剑法已经练到炉火纯青的地步。有一天，费长房对桓景说…….」
费长房：「九月九日，瘟魔又要出来害人，你快回家乡降服瘟魔，为民除害。我再给你茱萸叶，菊花酒，可防瘟疫！珍重！」（期许郑重的口气。）
旁白：「费长房说着说着，招来一朵五彩祥云，送桓景回家乡汝南去了。」



第三幕
旁白：「回到家乡，桓景对大家说…」
桓景：「各位父老乡亲们！明日瘟魔就会出现，请大家各配戴一片茱萸叶，喝一口菊花酒，登高避祸。」
旁白：「于是，大家照着桓景的话做，准备妥当后，只剩桓景待在屋旁。不久，瘟魔果然来了，他东张西望，找寻人们。」
瘟魔：「哈哈！我瘟魔来也！咦？人呢？」（得意洋洋，自信满满的声音，但之后却显得很惊疑。）
旁白：「他找了好久才发现，人们跑到山上去了…」
瘟魔：「哼！竟然躲到山上去了，害我还要多跑一趟。不过，嘿嘿….你们还是逃不出我的手掌心！哈哈哈！」（虽然不很高兴，但仍然趾高气昂的。）
旁白：「但是，当瘟魔冲到山边时，闻到了一阵异香….」
瘟魔：「什么味道？啊！是茱萸叶和菊花酒，可恶！我最怕了！哦，那儿还有一个小子…只好将就点。」（生气惧怕，无奈的嘆气。）
旁白：「于是，瘟魔扑向桓景，想要伤害他。他却不知道，桓景可比他厉害多了！果然，桓景一看，马上跳了出来，说…..」
桓景：「大胆妖魔！竟敢危害人间，看我为天下人民除害！」
桓景，瘟魔：「喝！看招！ㄎ一ㄥ！ㄎ一ㄤ！咻！」（打架、撞击之声）
旁白：「最后，可恶的瘟魔被桓景一剑杀死，再也不能残害百性，而登高，配戴茱萸和饮用菊花酒的习俗，也由此流传下来了。」
全组：「全剧终，谢谢大家！」
